I remember hearing a ton of Gordon Lightfoot as a kid growing up in Canada and The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald was one of the first songs I learned on guitar.
It has a beautiful, haunting sound with an easy repeating chord progression. I demonstrate the chords as well as the rhythm on acoustic guitar in the first video of this three part series.
Add in some harmonica in the second video as well as a complete play through in the third to complete the series.
If you’re looking for a guitar backing track, guitar chords, lyrics, harmonica tabs, you’ll find them too.
Find it here: Edmund Fitzgerald

Yet another great JJ Cale song, Cocaine. There is a video lesson covering the rhythm guitar part including chords and strumming. There is also a video covering what to do for harmonica when the original recording doesn’t have any harmonica. I talk about chord tones and scales as well as picking some riffs out of the melody. The final video is to jam along. There’s also chords, lyrics, harmonica tabs, backing track, and lots of fun.

Neil Young’s Long May You Run – Neil wrote this song about his first car, Mort, a 1948 Buick Roadmaster Hearse. Kind of gives new meaning to the lyrics.
This is a video lesson for guitar and harmonica of this great old song and demonstrates guitar chords, strumming rhythms, harmonica key and tabs followed by a complete play-through/jam-along.
There is also a guitar backing track to practice with (without the vocals or harmonica).
I hope you enjoy.
